Freedom House envisions itself as the final step before true freedom for those in recovery. We strive to be the beacon of hope and support, guiding individuals towards a life of autonomy, resilience, and endless possibilities.

We want to help you practice life skills learned in treatment and support groups before entering the “real world.” At Freedom House, our hope is that these skills will be sustainable and realistic for you to continue after your stay as a resident.Freedom House envisions itself as the final step before true freedom for those in recovery.

Hannah Taub / Case Manager

Hannah Taub is a dedicated and compassionate case manager with a strong background in social work and healthcare.

Short Biography​

Hannah’s robust career spans various healthcare roles, including serving as an EMT and a phlebotomist. These positions have honed her commitment to patient care and her ability to handle high-pressure situations with grace and efficiency. Her work at Rikers Island and Horizon Juvenile Center has given her a profound understanding of the medical needs and emotional challenges faced by those in recovery.

As a case manager, Hannah offers tailored support and guidance to residents, helping them navigate their recovery journey with empathy and expertise. Her ability to build trusting relationships and create a supportive environment makes her an invaluable asset to both the residents and the team. 

Merrit Hartblay / Dedicated Therapist

Merrit Hartblay is a dedicated therapist, social worker, and chemical dependency counselor with a focus on helping individuals and families navigate addiction and mental health challenges.

Short Biography​

Merrit Hartblay is a dedicated therapist, social worker, and chemical dependency counselor with a focus on helping individuals and families navigate addiction and mental health challenges. He is a distinguished lecturer at the Outreach Training Institute (OTI), the largest CASAC training program in New York State, which has trained over 3,000 drug and alcohol treatment counselors.

Merrit works closely with high school and college students, lecturing several times a year at Binghamton University. As an alumni athlete of this Division One university, he is uniquely qualified to support college students dealing with the pressures and stressors of academic life. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Drug Free Long Island, providing talks on suicide prevention and intervention.

In 2020, Merrit’s first book, “Lost Innocence: My Journey from Addiction to Recovery,” became a number one new release and best seller. His weekly podcast, “Recovery Road,” is available on all major podcast platforms, offering insights and support for those on their recovery journey.

Moran Amar / Social Worker

Moran Amar leverages her expertise and dedication to foster connections and support business growth, empowering others in their professional journeys.

With extensive experience in the business world, Moran is passionate about helping people succeed. She is the creator of the Miami Business Club, which boasts over 1,500 members. This platform was established to help individuals connect with professionals within the community and provide continuous support for any business-related questions.

The club operates with a commitment to networking and assisting others in their business endeavors. Moran firmly believes in the importance of helping others and views it as a privilege to make a positive impact.

Through the Miami Business Club and Freedom House, Moran continues to foster connections and support business growth, leveraging her expertise and dedication to empower others in their professional journeys.
